My Academy Awards Reaction

82nd Annual Academy Awards Reaction

Tonight, March 7, 2010, is a night that will surely go down in cinematic history. This is the night where the elite of Hollywood gather for the most prestigious award ceremony in the industry. The Oscars have gone to some of the most memorable performances in the history of film. It can make or break a career. Every actor, director, producer, and fan prays for the Oscar to go to the movie of their liking. And once again, as I did with the Grammy awards, I will be here through the entire ceremony to catch all of my reactions and all the big winners. Be sure to comment as you see fit to tell me about what you think! Going into this tonight I am placing my bet on the following films, actors, and directors (in no particular order): Meryl Streep (My favorite actress! Who also has 16 nominations in her history making her the most nominated actresses in Hollywood history), Sandra Bullock, Anna Kendrick, Morgan Freeman, The Hurt Locker, Avatar, James Cameron, and Up in the Air these movies have shook the box offices, the actors have had a wonderful and successful year, and the directors definitely deserve whatever awards they have coming to them! Hosting tonight’s event are Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, two of the funniest men in Hollywood. With them at the helm this should prove to be a memorable Academy Award experience.

Let’s get this party started folks! The curtains have opened and the stage is lined with tonight’s nominees for Best Actors and Best Actresses, it must be a huge honor to see a stage full of such legends! Neil Patrick Harris is opening the awards with the “opening number”! Neil Patrick Harris has previously hosted the Tony’s and the Emmy’s and did an amazing job so it is no surprise to me he was asked to do this! After his performance the two hosts are dropped down from the sky, literally! Nice effects ABC! Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are already staring the night off with a joke, and then congratulating Meryl Streep, GO MERYL! Also on a side note, the number of Best Picture nominees has increased from 5 to 10 films this year to give a broader range of films an opportunity to win. No they are going from actor to actor making jokes about each one, it is cracking me up! And now a Toyota pun… This is actually pretty funny! Okay… going on 17 minutes now of just cracking jokes on actors.

Finally here go the awards! First up, Penelope Cruz is presenting the awards for Best Supporting Actor this category is going to be close, but I think Matt Damon will win it for his role in Invictus. And the winner is Christoph Waltz for Inglorious Bastards! Had I seen that movie, I may have seen that one coming! Now we have the first Best Picture Nominee presentation: The Blind Side. I have only seen bits and pieces of this movie but it is very good from what I hear and I would not be surprised at all if Sandra Bullock or the movie wins it all tonight! As much as I love Meryl Streep, I believe that she has some really tough competition tonight with Sandra Bullock.

After a commercial break we have Cameron Diaz and Steve Carell, two very famous actors! They are introducing the Animated Feature films that are nominated! My pick of Nominated films would be The Princess and The Frog because it was not only my favorite Disney movie this year, but it was one of my favorite movies at all this year! And the winner is, with no surprise Up. I did in fact see Up, but I personally wasn’t as impressed with it as I was other Pixar films. You can actually see my reaction to Up on YouTube. Just search for my page (skipper63845)! Now Amanda Seyfried (Sophie in Mamma Mia!) and Miley…. Ugh are presenting the award for Best Original Song. Again, I hope The Princess and The Frog will win with either “Almost There” or “Down in New Orleans”. This was really an amazing film for Disney. And the Academy Award goes to… a song from Crazy heart. Boo that! Okay, I don’t care if it was a good song or not, look at Disney’s track record! It’s unbeatable…. I’ve never even heard of this joker. I am not impressed with this award winner. Now for Best Motion Picture Nominee number two: District 9. This was a film about an alien invasion in South Africa. I did not see this movie because it did not even look remotely interesting to me, so, I personally do not care one way or another about it.

After break number two Alec Baldwin introduces Robert Downey Jr. and Tina fey who are presenting this year’s award for Best Original Screenplay, I actually hope that Up wins this one because it was the only nominated one I have seen but alas, The Hurt Locker won the Oscar. Now Molly Ringwald and Matthew Broderick are taking the stage to take a moment to remember director john Hughes. This man was an amazing director who directed some of the most popular films in history including Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Now for Best Picture Nominee Number three: Up. I don’t have much more to say on the subject of Up except that I do not believe it will, or shall win the award for Best Picture. Now two actresses, Carrie Mulligan and Zoey, yeah, I can’t spell that last name take the stage to present the award for Best Animated Short. These are like those little cartoons shown before Disney movies, I have never seen any of them, but the winner was Logorama which actually looks like a good animated film! Too bad it is in French otherwise I would look it up! Now the same two actresses are presenting the award for Best Documentary Short which went to Music by Prudence. Some random woman just ran up in the stage and scared the crap out of this guy who was talking! Apparently she was the other winner, I’m not sure! Anyway, now the award for best live action short is presented to The New Tenants. I have never seen any of these short films or documentaries that are being honored tonight so I do not have any say so over any of them! Now Ben Stiller is coming out dressed as a character from Avatar and James Cameron does not look happy about it. It is funny though. He is presenting the award for Best Make Up even though ironically Avatar is not even nominated! In this category I hope that Star Trek wins because the parts of this movie I have seen were amazing and the visual effects made it possible. And I was right, FINALLY! Star Trek wins the award. Jeff Bridges is taking the stage to present the fourth Best Motion Picture Nominee: A Serious Man. I have never seen this movie and I really haven’t even heard that much about it to have any view of my own. Alright folks we are now half way through the night’s awards but we haven’t even gotten to the big stuff! This ought to be a good way to end the weekend.

Rachel McAdams and Jake Gyllenhall are taking the stage to present the award for Best Adapted Screenplay. In this category I hope that Up in the Air wins this one because again, it’s the only one that I know anything about. I should really watch it, because I hear it is very good. And the winner is… Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. I do not understand why we cannot just call it Precious but apparently the film people get offended by it. Okay, now Steve Martin is introducing Queen Latifa, one of my favorite actresses! She is talking about the Governors Awards ceremony that the Academy puts on to recognize the film makers. Now Robin Williams is taking the stage to present the award for Best Supporting Actress. In this category I hope that Penelope Cruz wins for her role in Nine, although she has some competition from Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga from Up in the Air, and also Monique for her role in Precious. Actually I do not know who is going to win this one, it’s a tough category! All of these actresses are amazing in their films I hear. The winner is… Monique! Good for her! The audience seems very pleased by their decision. Now we have Colin Firth presenting the fifth Nominee for Best Motion Picture: An Education. Again, as with the past nominee I have not seen this film or even heard anything about it so… No comment on it.

After a commercial break Sigourney Weaver is taking the stage to present the award for Outstanding Art Direction. I believe that Avatar will win this because seriously, who is going to go against Avatar. The winner is with absolutely no surprise to me, Avatar. Now the hosts introduce Tom Ford and Sarah Jessica Parker to present the award for Best Costume Design. I hope that Nine wins this award strictly because again, it’s the only one I know anything about, however the Oscar went to Sandy Powell for her work on The Young Victoria, a film that I had never even heard of two hours ago. Now Charlise Theoren is presenting the sixth Nominee for Best Picture: Precious, based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire”. I have never seen this movie and to speak the honest truth, I have no desire to see it. It does not even look like an appealing film to me. Now Steve and Alec are talking about their scary night together! Haha. Okay guys now we have two of the biggest names in Hollywood taking the stage: Taylor Lautner and Kristin Stewart, the stars of Twilight and New Moon. I am actually surprised that Robert Pattinson isn’t with them. I love the Twilight book series but I am not a huge fan of either film. I also think that the world has gone completely overboard with this phenomenon, but Hey, I’m sure they love it. Anyway they are here to honor the horror films that rarely ever have a place at the Oscars even though they are the most widely recognized films. They are showing a segment of scary parts from various films both old and new. From Scream to Samira; from Freddy to Frankenstein horror is one of the oldest genres and it is not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Now Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick are taking the stage to present the award for Best Sound Editing. In this category I have a feeling that Avatar will win, but it is up against four other amazing films. And the winner was The Hurt Locker. Now they are presenting the award for Best Sound Mixing. I have a feeling that this award could go to the same person but then again, it is up against Avatar. I want Transformers to win it though. I was correct about The Hurt Locker winning back to back because it just did. Now Elizabeth Banks is taking to the stage to talk about the Sci-Tech awards but seeing as there are so many award winners they have their own awards ceremony and she was just talking about it. Now John Travolta is taking the stage to present the seventh Nominee for Best Motion Picture: Inglorious Basterds. I could possibly see this film winning but I haven’t seen it so I can’t make much of a decision about it.

After another commercial break Steve Martin is introducing Sandra Bullock. She is here tonight to present the award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography. After hearing the nominees I am shocked to hear that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has been nominated in this category. I would absolutely love to see this film win considering I am such a huge Harry Potter fan. But it is up against Avatar so I am not going to get too excited. And the winner is… Avatar. No surprise here. Congrats to Avatar for all it has won so far! Now Demi Moore is taking the stage to honor those who have passed this year. This segment in all award ceremonies is a very special part because it allows everyone to reflect on those who have passed so that they can be remembered for their life’s work. They may be gone but they will never be forgotten!

After yet another commercial break Jennifer Lopez and Sam Worthington take the stage to present the award for Best Original Score. The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers will be dancing to the select numbers from each score. I think that Avatar will win this one just because again, it is Avatar! But again, I am wrong and the Oscar went to Up! For a movie that I did not care for it sure has won its fair share of awards. Now Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler are presenting the award for Outstanding Visual Effects. Now let’s try this again, I think that Avatar will win this award because I do have to say that it is an amazing film visually. I was right here, the winner was Avatar! Now Jason Bateman is taking the stage to present the eight Nominee for Best Motion Picture: Up in the Air. I can see this film being a good contender for Best Film. If it does not win, I can definitely see it in the top 4 or so!

As we go to commercial I notice that we are down to thirty minutes. This could become one of the most remembered thirty minutes in all of film history. As the announcer just said the award for Best Director will prove to be huge deal no matter who the winner is. It could be the first female to win, the first African American to win, or James Cameron or Quentin Tarentino (who have both previously held the title). Being the first of your kind, literally, to win, or even be nominated for, an award of such caliber must be an amazing feeling for these two individuals. As we come back from break Alec Baldwin is introducing Matt Damon who is here tonight to present the award for Best Documentary Feature. I really hope that Food Inc. wins this award. It is not only the only one I have seen, but it was very good. The winner was the Cove. I’ve never seen it so… eh. Now Tyler Perry is taking the stage to present the award for Best Film Editing. I would imagine that Avatar will take this award, but again, I have been wrong in judging before. The winner is… The Hurt Locker. Now Keanue Reeves or Ke-nu-nu as I have so commonly referred to him as is taking the stage to present ninth Nominee for Best Picture: The Hurt Locker. This is one of those films that I haven’t heard much about the plot just that it is a good movie. I probably wouldn’t care for it because I do not like war movie but who knows! I could easily see this movie taking it all home tonight if Avatar wasn’t in its way. It’s kind of funny because the director of this film and James Cameron, director of Avatar, used to be married. They could have made some very good film making children!

We go again to commercial with only eighteen minutes remaining. Upon returning we have the hosts introducing Pedro Almadovoir and Quentin Tarentino who will be presenting tonight’s award for Best Foreign Language Film. I have obviously never seen any of these because I only speak one language and I do not speak it correctly! The Oscar goes to… The Secret in Their Eyes, and Argentinean film. Now our hosts are introducing Kathy Bates, one of my all time favorite actresses, who will be presenting out tenth and final Nominee for Best Picture: Avatar. This movie is one that I feel will win. Avatar has broken just about every record available. James Cameron has really outdone himself but what would you expect from the man who brought us Titanic?

Here we go folks, the final and most coveted awards of the evening. First off: Best Actor in a Leading Role. The nominees include Morgan Freeman, Colin Firth, Jeff Bridges, George Clooney, and Jeremy Renner. This category is a very, very hard one to call. I would love to see all five of these men take home an Oscar for their amazing roles in these films. Morgan Freeman is one of my absolute favorite actors so I really want him to win it, but he has a really hard group of men running against him! I mean George Clooney was Batman! It is not easy to beat Batman! Presenting the award is Kate WInslet, last year’s winner for best supporting actress. The winner of the Oscar is… Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart! Congratulations Jeff! You beat Batman and God himself (Morgan Freeman)! Next we have the award for Best Actress of a Leading Role. The nominees include Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Helen Miran, Carrie Mulligan, and Gabourey Sidibe. If I thought the men’s category was going to be hard to call I obviously had never thought this was coming! Again, like the men, I would love to see all five nominees take home and Oscar. This competition between Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock is proving to be the most intense part of tonight’s awards! I will be very pleased to see either actress win! I have circled both of them on my ballot! Bullock’s performance in The Blind Side was quite possibly the best in her career, while veteran Streep plowed down the competition in Julie & Julia. Both actresses have huge careers and again, I hope one of them win! I would not be surprised one bit however to see that Gabourey Sidibe wins for her role in Precious: based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire. This award is anybody’s game even though I hope for either a win for Meryl Streep or Sandra Bullock. Presenting the award is Sean Penn who last year won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. And the winner of the Oscar goes to… man, this is a very exciting moment… the winner is… Sandra Bullock! Oh wow, this is a big deal! The first ever Oscar in her career! And she did not cry just like she said she wouldn’t! I was right, well one of my two selected actresses won the award! Uh-oh she stated crying… but she has earned the right to cry if she wants to. Kudos to you Sandra Bullock! May you win many more!

Now taking the stage is Barbara Streisand to present the award for Best Director. The nominees include James Cameron for Avatar, Katherine Bigelow for The Hurt Locker, Quentin Tarentino for Inglorious Basterds, Lee Daniels for Precious, and Jason Reitman for Up in the Air. This is the category where history could be made tonight folks! This one is also anybody’s game, but I believe that James Cameron will take home the prize for Avatar. And the Oscar for Best Director goes to… Katherine Bigelow for The Hurt Locker. This is the first time ever, in the 82 years of the Academy Awards that a woman has won such a prestigious award. And against such a large group of huge directors! Congratulations to you Katherine Bigelow.

Now for our final award of the night to be presented by Tom Hanks, the award for Best Motion Picture! This ceremony has already presented its ten nominees, as have I, along with my personal views on each one. So here we go the most important award of the evening. And the Oscar for Best Motion Picture goes to… The Hurt Locker, with much surprise. I thought that surely Avatar had this one in the bag, but I guess this just goes to show that the Academy Awards are very unpredictable. Congratulations to The Hurt Locker for everything you won tonight! Four out of a possible nine awards were won! I would imagine that Avatar came in a very close second place!

Tonight was a huge night for film and history was indeed made. I would like to express my gratitude for all of you who have taken the time to read this massive blog that has taken me four and a half hours to type! I hope you have all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed typing it! Thank you! I’ll be back for the Tony’s! My favorite awards show! Again, please comment and express your views on this wonderful experience that was the 82nd Annual Academy of Motion Picture Awards. Thank you and good night!

My Grammy Reaction

image

“Elton John and Gaga? I didn’t even know they were dating?!”

“The best collaboration would have to be Adam Lambert and any sense of personal restraint.”

Going into this January 31, 2010, I have four singers in mind that I feel will take home most of the awards tonight at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. Those singers are, in no particular order, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Eminem, and Taylor Swift. I will type this post as I watch. Hope for an eventful night!

The show starts with Lady Gaga! Who better to start an award show with! Lady Gaga has had an amazing year and is currently one of my favorite singers. 5 chart topping hits on only 2 CDs? That’s amazing for basically a newcomer! Anyway… This show kicked off with Lady Gaga’s music masterpiece “Poker Face”. I love this song, BUT I do not feel that she did as great of a job performing this live as she has other songs in the past, Bad Romance or Paparazzi. Poker Face led off into an absolute mind blowing duet with Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John which left me at a loss for words! I have seen unlikely duets, but this one was absolutely AMAZING!! Great Job!

Stephen Colbert took the stage after this performance to give the opening speech so to speak. Very funny guy! I don’t think Jay-Z was very happy to be pointed out though, because he had a ticked off look on his face! He is probably just jealous of Beyonce! I do have to say that I didn’t think it was very funny for Colbert to take a shot at Susan Boyle like he did, funny, maybe true, but Boyle is amazing, leave the woman alone! From there Colbert started the night off be presenting the award for Song of the Year. With a tight nomination list, I did not know whether Lady Gaga, Beyonce, or Taylor Swift would win this one. I’m excited to hear myself! Single Ladies wins! Haha! Awesome Sauce! This song has had an amazing cultural impact! I about passed out when Beyonce didn’t jump up there, until they said she was backstage getting ready to perform! I am very excited about this performance. I am hoping for Sweet Dreams or Halo, my two favorites.

Next, J-Lo presented the cast of “American Idiot” and Green Day to perform “21 Guns”. I thought it was awesome! It is very risky to incorporate Broadway with mainstream music fans but I loved it. I hope other music lovers will appreciate the risk instead of hating on green Day for doing it. All in all I am finding this to be an awesome sauce performance. But is the world ready for Green Day: The Musical? That, I am not sure of. After this the award for Best Country Album was presented to Taylor Swift. This is awesome because I wanted her to win. She is so young but has an amazing voice and very catchy songs. And now we have BEYONCE! I am very excited! Well, that ended fast… unfortunately she chose to perform “If I Was A Boy”…. Not a favorite of mine, but she still blew it out of the park… woo hoo Beyonce! Immediately after Beyonce Pink took to the stage! They are doing this awful fast! I have no idea what she is singing but the crowd seems to be pleased. Okay… I don’t know what she is wearing though, or maybe it would be better put as what she isn’t wearing! It was an okay performance, the audience sure likes it.

Now Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban are taking the stage to present the award for Best New Artist. Out of this category I really hope Keri Hilton wins because the only other one I know is the Zac Brown Band… who just won... Okay people, Chicken Fried has got to be the stupidest song ever written. Boo on that one Recording Academy! Also, what’s up with the super short acceptance speeches? Ha, they just asked who will be Grammy Queen: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, or Taylor Swift. This is a very good question that I do not have an answer to… yet! Okay, now Miley is on stage to introduce the Black Eyed Peas whom I am not a big fan… So… I’m not even going to comment. The effects here for their performance are very well done. That, I will comment on! Anyway… Now back to the show lol. Lady Antebellum is fixing to perform. I really like “I Run To You” so this should be an awesome performance! Of course NOBODY is going to perform what I want them to… They are singing “Need You Now” which is an awesome song and they are doing awesome live too! Wait… I think something just fell and it wasn’t suppose to cuz the singer knocked it off her hair. But they kept going, it was just a curtain. Good Job guys! Great performance!

Now the award for Best Comedy Album, I really don’t care who wins this one, but Kathy Griffin and Stephen Colbert are very funny. “This is a Christmas Album so obviously I should thank Jesus Christ for having such a great Birthday!” This guy is hilarious. Next Ringo Starr is going to present the award for record of the year. A formal Beatle is a great choice for a presenter! I have noticed that most of these commercials have to do with music in some way, shape, or form. Kinda funny seeing as we’re watching a music award show! Here we go: again, Beyonce vs. Gaga vs. Swift… I think Beyonce’ll win this... let’s see! No…. Kings of Leon…. What?! No freakin way…. LAME SAUCE! Beyonce had that in the bag! Now Robert Downey Jr is coming out like a Prince or something… haha. He introduced Opera... Oh wait, it a joke, its Jamie Fox haha! That was funny! Awesome performance! Even Jay-Z was smiling at this one! Haha! Now we get a chance to vote to see what song Bon Jovi Performs! I hope its “It’s My Life”.

I JUST GOT THE NEWS, NO SCHOOL TOMORROW! GO US!

Now to the Best Rock Album, again… I know none of these songs so I’m voting for Green Day! And then they win! Haha! I got one right! I may need to check out that CD because I’m digging that song they keep playing! Wait… he just said Bastard on live TV, you can’t do that!! Now The Zac Brown Band is about to perform… I wish you could fast forward live television. They are singing America The Beautiful, seriously… How corny. They’re doing a good job, but usually bands don’t do patriotic songs unless they are desperate. I am glad country music is starting to make a comeback though; I really am a big fan of country music. Next Up: Taylor Swift performs! This should be good because as I previously said, she is a very good singer. Ryan Seacrest is introducing her? Can he even sing? Well… I was actually hoping for “You Belong With Me” but instead I got… I can’t remember the name of it, eh, it’s okay. Wait... She’s switching songs and singing with Stevie Nicks! No she’s switching songs again to “You Belong With Me”. Its different the way she is doing it, but it’s still good. Kind of like a Bluegrass version of it though. Clampett Style! Now Lionel Ritchie is taking the stage to do a Michael Jackson memorial thing. They are singing with him and Omg it is so cool, this is one of the neatest things I have ever seen on TV, I love when there are singer contemplations! So neat!! And it is in 3D! I wish I had 3D glasses. JENNIFER HUDSON! CELINE DION! USHER! SMOKEY ROBINSON! CARRIE UNDERWOOD! IN 3D! AMAZING! I am very impressed. It is going to take A LOT to top that. Now they are awarding the Lifetime Achievement Award to Michael Jackson! His children are accepting this award because he obviously cannot. Rest In Peace Michael Jackson, I don’t know what Tommy will ever do without you!

Now Sheryl Crow is introducing Bon Jovi. A group who has been entertaining audiences for over 20 years now! I cannot believe that they have never performed on here before! They are doing awesome! I am loving this! Not many music acts can say they have done well for so long and still be going strong! Now they are doing Livin’ On A Prayer! One of my favorite songs! This is awesome! AMAZING JOB! Now the Grammy for Best Rap song collaboration. I hope either Beyonce, Hilton, or Justin Timberlake win this! Well, Run This Town won! Good song also though! Next up, Haiti relief efforts. Mary J. Blige is performing to raise awareness with two other people much less famous than her obviously because I haven’t the slightest clue who they are! Pretty good performance, even though the first half was in a different language. Mary J is a great performer and she has an amazing voice! “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is a great song selection also!

Now the President of the Recording Academy is taking center stage to speak about the Academy, boring… Get off the stage and bring out a performer… Now Adam Sandler is up there? I’m not understanding this… Oh, he is introducing a band, The Dave Matthews. I don’t really know anything at all about them so again, no comment. Wait, I really, really like this song they are singing! Afterwards we have Ricky Martin and LEA MICHELE! RACHEL FROM GLEE!! WOOT WOOT!! They are presenting the award for Best Female Breakthrough Performance. This time, again, my 3 female picks are up, plus Pink and Keri Hilton. This could be a difficult decision. All five had very, very good songs. Wait, screw them… Give it to Lea! Oh well, and the award goes too… BEYONCE for Halo! GO BEYONCE!

We have 40 minutes left of the Grammy’s here tonight and I can honestly say that my hands are hurting from typing. You guys better be enjoying this blog! I have no life so this actually gives me something to do! Haha!

Okay, now we are back. LL Cool J Is on stage introducing Maxwell. Eh, Maxwell has had a lot of hype lately but I’m not really interested. So… I’m going to take this opportunity to rest my fingers! I do not know how the people sit there for so long. This is a long event. 3.5 hours just for the show, not including pre-show or after parties! I would be worn out! Now they are doing the “In Memoriam” tribute. It is a very nice way for them to pay respects to these people one last time! Woah.. Lady Gaga is wearing something outrageous, that does not surprise me, but it’s cool, it is like a costume party whenever she gets out! Now they are doing a Les Paul tribute. It’s okay… Bring out Gaga! And now, another commercial. Wait, I just realized something. Why don’t they have a host for this? This award show has no host! Quentin Tarintino is on stage to introduce Drake, Eminem, and Lil Wayne. This oughta be interesting. Oh lord, pull up your pants dude! Now there is Eminem. I actually like him so this part is cool. They are all actually doing quite a good job! Everyone is digging this! Woo hoo! I am thoroughly impressed!

Okay now there are presenting the Album of the Year Award! This is the big one folks! Lady Gaga, Beyonce, AND Taylor Swift, again, are all in the same category. I do not care which of the three wins it because I think they all deserve it. It’s a two way tie between Beyonce and Lady Gaga for me. Sorry Taylor Swift, you are so close behind. And the winner of Album of the Year is… Taylor Swift! Congratulations Taylor Swift for Fearless. This is the best award of the night and it went to a young county female Artist!

Well guys, that’s it, it’s over. Now to reflect. This year’s Grammy Awards show was amazing. An 11 out of 10. I am very impressed and think that everyone who won deserved to! The only think I would change would be some of the performances, but I can’t change that! Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift, a special congratulations to you guys because you were my picks in the beginning! I am very glad I have spent the last 3 and a half hours of my life watching and typing these 52nd annual Grammy Awards! Thank you for reading! Until next time!

When Your Summer Is Coming To A Close And You Dont Know Where The Time Went...

Today... August 5. First day of school, August 17. I have 12 more days of summer before I embark on what could hopefully be the most awesome school year so far. I have reached the end, 12 long years (15 if ya count 3 and 4 year old programs) of hard work has led me to these next ten months. My senior year promises to be one full of rememberance, drama, and tears. I am very exited to start school. BUT i cannot believe that this summer has flown by so fast! It just feels like I got out! Nothing really exciting has happened, I still see everyone just as much, and the drama has been in full force. This town is great, you get the drama year round, ya gotta love that. Working took up a vast majority of the beginning of my summer and lately I have had some time off. All of June was spent either working at the shop or working on yearbook. Not a bad way to spend it in my opinion. July was mostly spent working. And so far August has consisted of... babysitting lol. I just wanted to post a small blog since I havent in forever, but hopefully blogging will pick back up now that the school year has begun!

Don't Say Things Can't Get Worse.... Cuz They Can

Life has a funny way of kicking you while your down. I dont know why, but it does. Have you ever noticed how some people just cannot catch a break? I am one of those people. Everytime something is going good, something, or someone just has to ruin it. People need to learn a very important lesson: Treat others the way you want to be treated. If people would just think about their actions and the effects they have on people, it would honestly change the world. In my opinion seclusion is the worst form of bullying and really shouldnt be done. Nobody ever feels good about being left out. Most people dont realize that they are secluding others, but maybe they should take a minute to think about the feelings of others. If people would do this, the world really would become a better place!

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

Hello Blog Readers! I'm sorry for no posting n the past few weeks, but as my cousin Paul pointed out, blogging ins't about an everyday post, Its all about the content. So I decided that typing all about my life probably isn't THAT interesting, so I've decided to do my blogging about important matters, or just important morals and things to me. Enjoy!

Ya know, I've always heard the saying "don't judge a book by its cover", but I have never thought anything of it, because I am always judging a book by its cover. Whether it be an actual book, or a person, I have always judged "books by their covers". I can think of three instances recently that have really led me to believe this.

1)Susan Boyle- Man, If I have ever owed anyone an apology, it is this woman. I was thinking the same thing as everyone in the auditorium when she walked out on that stage to perform on Britian's Got Talent, "Is this woman crazy? She needs a new wordrobe and a haircut!" But I can tell you, once the first note came out of her mouth my jar hit the floor. This woman has one of the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. I really hope she goes far in life now that she has proven to me, and the world, that you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover, congrats to you Susan Boyle!

2) Obsessed- Okay, Saturday night me and Gracie went to the movies. I wanted to see "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" and she wanted to see "Obsessed". Well, instead of arguing, I figured we would go see "Obsessed", because I DID drag her to see "Wolverine" last weekend. I thought "Okay, some movie about a black chick (Beyonce) who husband cheats in her with some white chick (Brook Wyndum, on Legally Blonde, I don't know her real name)" Pretty boring, right?I have never been more wrong! This movie was chock full of suspense, and an ending that you couldn't beat with a stick! Honestly, I was clapping and screaming at the ending, along with everyone else in the theatre. It was something else! Everyone needs to see this film!

3) The Twilight Saga- Who is sick of hearing about Twilight? I am..... Well, I was about 2 months ago.... I finally gave in to society and read the Twilight books, and to my surprise, liked them alot. Stephanie Meyer is really a great author who has brought a whole new genre of books to the hands of many readers around the world, kudos to you!

These three events have really led me to believe in the old saying "Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover" Have you every had any kind event like this? If so, I would love to hear about it! Blog ya later!

My Extremely Hectic Week!

Hello everybody! I just want to start out this blog by sending out a heartfelt apology to everyone for me not posting in a whole week! I have been so busy with prom, work, and other stuff, that by the time I get a chance to blog, it's nearly midnight! And ya know, I’m not superman! I’m gonna try to remember everything that has happened in the past week and put it in here, but I highly doubt I can remember it all! My week from Tuesday-Friday on consisted of three things, and only those three things: School, Work, and Prom. Everyday, I went to school from 8:00-3:00, then go to work (If I was needed), and then go up to the school and work on getting prom put together. We would work until about 9:30pm every night! After that was done, I had to come home and do my homework, or at least attempt to, and then go to bed. So needless to say again, I really had no time for blogging. I actually did type up a blog on Wednesday saying simply "Too tired to blog, check back tomorrow", but I figured that was just a waste of everyone’s time! I really cannot remember anything big that did happen during the Tuesday-Friday week, but if I remember, I’ll throw them in here. So for the most part, I will just start with Friday and work my way to today, Monday.

Friday: Friday I went to school. I honestly can’t remember ANYTHING that happened during school Friday, so obviously it was nothing really interesting. But after school, I went to work. I do remember washing trucks and stuff. No wait, I DO remember what happened at school Friday! Friday, the Juniors, who had the required number of hours, got to get out all day long and help decorate for Prom. This was a very, very long and tedious task. There weren’t very many people who got out to decorate, so the few had to work much harder to make up for the ones who couldn’t get out. Lets see, I’m just gonna try to remember the highlights of Friday.

-Coach Carter TRIED to take my Zune away, claiming that it was against the rules, yet everyone else had their cell phones on, so there was no way she was getting it. She was very bossy and I didn’t really appreciate it.
-Cody tried to be all cool and show his butt in front of Chris and Lindsey, but I kindly put him in his place.
-We got pizza, supplied by the class, and it was very good.
-We all left when the 3:05 bell rang and the sponsors threw a fit because everyone was leaving, but most of us had to go to work. They eventually got some other people to come, but not without griping at us.
-Prom finally got done about 4:30, while I was at work. But I heard all about it from Gracie!

I will describe Prom in its entirety when I talk about tomorrow. Friday after work, I went home and relaxed and babysat pretty much the entire night. The only time I even got out of the house was to go watch the boy’s baseball game for about an hour with Lindsey, that’s it! I came home and fell asleep watching Madagascar 2 (Very good movie, excellent movie). I guess I was just so tired from all week that I didn’t even have the energy to finish it. Oh, and another thing that happened Friday, was that we found out that my little cousin from Louisiana was in a bad four-wheeler wreck and had to have brain surgery, it was bad, he seems to be doing okay, but is still in the hospital as of now. That’s it for Friday.

Saturday: I’m going to do Saturday in 2 different parts. Before 5:00pm and after 5:00pm. I got up Saturday at 7:35am to get ready for work. As I have said before, I dread Saturdays, because we work our hardest, and It’s just so hard to be motivated at eight on a Saturday! Anyway, I went in, and again this week, as soon as I clocked in, I started working. I washed two trucks before 10:20, when Charles told us to go ahead and knock off for the day! I was confused, but when the boss man says kick off, nobody is gonna argue! I got my paycheck and left that place! I went on the bank, cashed my check, and went home. I took a very short nap when I got home, then jumped into the shower to get cleaned up, because I was filthy! After I got cleaned up, I went to dad’s house to eat because he had cooked out. All I did was walk in, grab me a bratwurst, ate, and left. The construction people were all working on dad’s roof, so I didn’t wanna be in the way. After I left, I went and spent some time with Granny. I hadn’t seen her for a while so I decided I should go drop her a line. We had a good time visiting. I stayed there for a few hours helping her move stuff and whatnot. I left there about 2pm and came home to relax before the big night. When I got home, I watched Madagascar from the point I fell asleep at. By the time that was done it was time to get ready.

Information about Prom 2009: This year’s theme was "A Whole New World". It was all done in Arabian palaces and stuff. The color scheme was blue and silver. It was beautiful. We had huge archways surrounded by columns, and windows, and gossamer walls and ceilings, and Christmas lights illuminated everything. It was very elegant. All of our hard work paid off, because this is not a theme I am going to forget soon. We had plants and walkways, and the tables were beautifully decorated. I have pictures of this event, and will put them online as soon as possible! I will put the URL on here as soon as I can! Thanks to everyone who helped us put on a great Prom!

Prom: I started getting ready at 5:00pm. By taking the longest shower I had prolly ever taken, no lie. I got out and spent the next 20 minutes trying to maneuver into this tuxedo I had to wear to this stupid dance. After I FINALLY was able to get dressed, my mom spent like 20 minutes taking pictures of me and crying and whatnot. Apparently it was a big deal to her. She took like a bazillion pictures of me! When she finally was able to part with me, I flew down to Anniston so that Granny could see me. When I got there, she also took pictures and stuff. I was sick of pictures. When I left there I came home just long enough to do some finishing touches (Cologne, get money, camera, etc). After that, I cautiously headed up to the school. I was so nervous to be going up there by myself, but I had to be there early to work the spotlight at Grand March. By the time I was able to get there, everyone and their mother were already there. I had to fight threw a mess of people all dressed up to get into the gym. I got in there and Mrs. White showed me how to use the spotlight. All I had to do was flip the switch, and make sure it was pointed at the right spot! I stood there while waiting for GM to start. Austin Rose stood there with me and he ended up standing there to take pictures for yearbook. People piled in like you wouldn’t believe for this. Every seat was just about filled, with numerous people on the stage and back wall standing. It was a very good turnout. Then they did GM. It was beautiful to see everyone dressed up in their colorful formals, very nice. After GM, they did Who’s Who and Coronation, where Jocelyn Shands and Blake Atkinson were crowned Prom 2009 King and Queen. Congrats to everyone who won awards and stuff! After all that, everyone was dismissed from the Gym and told to wait outside for the dance to start. Everyone stood outside taking pictures with their pals. I had pictures taken with Derek, Abby, Derek and Abby, and Hannah. It was really a great time to get to mingle with everybody. I also got to see ReRe’s baby, Liberty, and she is sooo cute. We all stood outside and mingled for about 15 minutes before they let us all in. When we finally got in, we were greeted by loud music and bright light, which all looked very promising that we were gonna have a great night! And a great night we had! I sat at a table with Hannah, Dustin, Abby, and Derek. We sat and talked a lot. We also danced a lot! Gracie liked to never show up, which was kind of a let down, but when she finally did, we had a blast. I am so glad that I went now that it is over. I danced and had a great time! I took a bunch of pictures too. It seemed to me that everyone had a great time! Even the sponsors were shaking their groove things out on the dance floor. All in all, I peg prom as a success! After Prom, Gracie and I went to eat with Dustin and Hannah at Applebees. We had a "Very friendly" waitress… We laughed and had a great time! After that, Gracie and I went to sonic and got ice cream! Sonic is like our thing! We had so much fun, you wouldn’t believe. We took pictures of everything, including our new friend, Angie, the carhop at Sonic that we talked to for like 5 minutes! She was great; I hope we see her again! After Sonic, we took the long way back to EP, made a few loops, and then headed home. I got home about one, and passed out. I was worn out from having so much fun. I would have never guessed it either!

Sunday: I woke up at 9am and was so tired, but I couldn’t go back to sleep because I was so excited over Saturday night, and the fact that today was the big day I’ve been waiting for COMIC CON! I got up and got ready, and then cleaned my room. Before I left for comic con I was greeted with a HUGE surprise, Lily had her kittens! She had 4 kittens, and they and her seem to be in great health! They are all very small though! I will have more pictures of them as they become available! Grace and I left here at 11:30 and didn’t prolly say 10 words the entire way to Cape, we were both wore out! On top of Prom festivities, Grace had to go to her brother’s wedding Saturday afternoon (Congrats Roger and Libby)! When we finally got to Cape, we went and picked up Alli and Mollie. Those two are so much fun! We went and ate at McAllisters, which was awesome, and then headed to comic con. Comic con consisted of a whole bunch of tables filled of nothing but comic books for sale. I bought 4 comic books for $2.00! What a bargain! I got 2 Spider-Man, and 2 X-Men comics from the 80’s! That was pretty cool. I also got an autograph from the creator of Ghost Rider, he was like 100 years old and couldn’t understand me, but I still got an autograph! Then Alli and I went and observed some hardcore nerd role-playing game with the landscaping and the measuring and stuff, it was great! Alli and I had fun, but I’m pretty sure Mollie and Grace made fun of us the whole time! After that, we took Alli and Mollie home and me and Gracie made a quick stop by Best buy, where she got s new CD and I bought three movies (West Side Story, Chicago, and Across the Universe) for $6 each! What a bargain! Then we got Andy’s. I love Andy’s and Grace does too! While there, Hannah and her parents pulled up and Hannah told us all about her very interesting prom night! After we left there, we came home. I dropped Gracie and came home, cleaned, and watched my new movies. That was all for yesterday! I had a great weekend, but it passed by so fast!

Today (Monday): I’m just gonna fly threw today because it is nearing 10pm, and I wanna go to sleep! I went to school this morning. At school today we:

1st Hour- Took down prom, ½ the school population was out there so it only took like 30 minutes.
2nd Hour- We worked on our Algebra homework, nothing exciting
3rd Hour- We just sat and talked, and read Scope magazines!
5th Hour- We had a ½ day today so we didn’t do anything but play UNO. After 5th hour, we just sat on the benches and talked, because we didn’t wanna eat.

After we were dismissed, Austin and I had to fly to Cape to go to our orthodontist appointments and stuff by 1pm. We went to the orthodontist, ate at Culvers (Very good), went to Lowes, the Mall, and Petco, before getting Andy’s and heading home. When we got home, we cleaned and I started typing on this blog, while watching Chicago!

Now everyone is up to date on how my life has been for the past week! VERY HECTIC! Well, I’m done, because my hands are killing me! If I forgot anything, I’ll include in tomorrow’s post! Thanks for reading! Blog ya later!

April 21, 2009..... So Very Tried......

Before I start, I just wanna apologize beforehand for this being such a short blog. It is 9:18 and I am wore out. Today started out pretty normal. I got up at 6:50 and was ready by 7:20, so we left early. I took Kenzie to school, hit a loop, then headed to school at 7:50, still being the only one there. I sat in my car until the bell rang, the headed up to the building. First hour was very boring. We contined to go over our ACT booklets. I'll sure be glad when the year is over so that I can be out of that class, or all my classes because I really hate school, really. Second hour was just as, if not more, boring. All we did was go over the test, which I got a 67% on, which was better than I previously had. After we went over the test, Mrs. Wite attempted to explain the next section in our Algebra books to us., I ,however, paid no attention whatsoever, and doodled all hour. I was so so bored. I really do not like math, we'll I like it, I'm just not good at it. After algebra, we finally had our Huck Finn test in CP. I really feel like I did a good job, and Mrs. Hutcheson even commented me on my essay! She said that she made the mistake of reading mine first then she had to look at everyone else's and there was just no comparison. It was pretty much the highlight of my day. After CP we continued to take notes in chemistry. I really dislike that class as well, just because I do not understand it. In Spanish today, we did absolutely nothing, except do our Oral Evaluations, which was just reading a poem in spanish over a voice recorder. Mrs. Mickle said that I did excellent. But, then again, I didn't need her to tell me how great I was, I already knew it! At lunch we, again, didn't talk about anything interesting. I just sat and ate my lunchable in peace. World History was also a drag. We just sat there and annotated a set of worksheets then talked all hour. My day must seem to really suck, but then again, I'm having alot of trouble remembering specifics because I'm so tired. Seventh hour me and Blaire looked at yearbook progression, and made some changes. We also made a list of people and pages that we needed to get movin! After school, I found out that I didn't have to work, so I went up and worked on prom from 3:30 until 9, so I am very wore out. I only left for like 30 minutes so that I could go get my tuxedo. It looks really nice on me, except I feel like I'm gonna suffocate under all those clothes! Then I went back and decorated. I do have to say that I had a good time hangin out with Cati and Lindsey at the Promsite tonight. My picture tonight is actually Lindsey putting windows on the columns we made! We still have quite a bit of work to go before we get this done! Juniors need to be there helping whenever possible! Its good that me and Cati are starting to be friends! Now that I'm home I am watching "The Day The Earth Stood Still", its pretty good, but really short it seems like. Oh well, now that I've explained my day, I'm gonna hit the sack! Sorry for the short blog! C Ya!
